I've always wondered about this. The Tan Beret isn't authorized for RFS pax, but you have to wear something, right? Maybe a Maroon Beret with the Ranger flash and crest?

The Ranger Beret (which is now tan lol) is only authorized for Rangers who are assigned to USASOC. Not USASOC subordinate commands like SFG, although I have seen it worn there. Any Ranger not assigned to 75th or USASOC will wear the unit's headgear like maroon beret with unit flash or PC.

It was in the Blue Book, they wear black beret and wear regular Army PTs. That was the standard when I was there.

Neither have I. I don't think it is. It was just a thought. I've never seen an RFS guy who was wearing ASUs. It could make sense for the correct headgear to be the maroon beret, since it is an airborne unit...

What is the authorized headgear for RFS pax wearing ASUs?

Fortunately the Army thought ahead and created a piece of headgear for individuals who aren't authorized berets...

Surely you are not suggesting that RFS pax wear the PC with ASUs. I asked specifically about ASUs.
