I don't know. But when you restore something it can bring down the value. Also if you don't use original parts.

TSgt Kenneth Ellis I've always admired guys who had fully equipped machine shops and garages that would allow them to tackle any problem by either making the tool or the part they needed...and that is their whole life. I thought restoring something would only increase its value, if only in sweat equity.

I don't know if I'd call pride a benefit, but that's not a bad reason at all. Downsides will be that it likely won't be more than a garage piece unless it's a model that still has a lot of support.
