What is the best way to compete for an AGR position in the Reserves?

Long shot , but what the best way to choose your AGR location/s , as a postiom in my unit will open soon.
1. Letters of reccomdation?
2. Speaking directly to HRC?
Any thoughts/ or network contacts.

Be prepared to move. I lived in Florida but was offered a position in Washington State. Take what you're offered.

Things have changed a lot since I was in your shoes. We did not have by name requests; however, it was known to happen a time or two. Now you must have packet in, be selected by the board, then wait for the call. You can always ask HRC when they call you, but most likely you will be moving if selected.
