I had a rather large company at 200. We executed our company party in a fine dining room. The last event of the evening was karaoke gong. Each platoon and individuals were asked to perform. It got so vicious that they were booing performers before they even started. First place was $200 to the only who could sing worth a damn.

Well at the Mess Night I just attended, I did have the pleasure of seeing a Marine sing the "I'm a little teapot" song.

I recall a "Donate to Pie a Sergeant" event - raffle off a chance to push a cream pie into the face of your "favorite" NCO. This guy jumps up and screams, "TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS!!!" He chose his target (a real butt-head of an E-5), who sat in a chair to be pied. The guy reared back and BLASTED the Sergeant in the face. Ended up breaking his nose, knocked out a tooth, and embedded whipped cream so far up the guy's sinuses that he got one hell of an infection. The Specialist was taken away by the MPs...

And that night, two of my buddies died in a DWI car wreck - after drinking beer provided by kegs bought by the CO.

Not a good event.
