An ISIL/ISIS threat on American soil is a criminal threat, not a terrorism threat. We have elevated this to a level of unjustified paranoia.
We have gangs in America with more firepower than most small countries. And while I admit that Law Enforcement hasn't exactly worked wonders on that front, I seriously doubt the 1.5 million American gang members, 1 million law enforcement personnel, and assorted rednecks and patriots are going to take kindly to upsetting the status quo.

I'm afraid to say that they are pretty much content with their notion that the problem is located "over there" and I have heard many times that "it is time to just let the Middle East fix their own problems."
