What is the likelihood of the surgeon general approving a waiver for TMJ for me to join the Air Guard? I spent 6 years Army National Guard, and my TMJ never caused issues or kept me from doing anything. Every FMR it was addressed that I had mild TMJ and it wasn't something that kept me from deploying, and it wasn't a factor that would keep me from re-enlisting. So I don't understand why MEPS would disqualify me, when I am prior service and had no prior issues with having TMJ. I don't have to wear a retainer either.

Per DoDI 6130.03, March 30, 2018, TMJ is a disqualifier IF Temporomandibular disorders or myofascial pain that has been symptomatic or required treatment within the last 12 months. If you had treatment and/or symptomatic within the last 12 months, that is why you got DQ'd at MEPS. It could be that if you came in prior to this updated 2018 format, that may be why you had no issues getting in. As for the likelihood of the Surgeon General approving the waiver, that will depend all on the Surgeon General and the substantiating documents submitted with the waiver.
