What is the most pertinent 14 series MOS given today's military climate?

I am in the process of re-enlisting into active duty after a year break. It looks like based on USAREC 17-065 my reclass options will be limited to the 14 series (ADA). It seems to be a dying branch, however, given the events going on in the world today, which MOS is going to provide for the most practical experience? I prefer to not get stuck in an MOS behind a desk, or sitting on a FOB somewhere

I was a 14T for 5 years. That's the mos that's more physical. You never are behind a desk, it's considered a combat arms mos. You will be in the MP working and training all the time.

I am a 14S/P AIT instructor and have been for almost 3 years now at Fort Sill. The short range air defense field (SHORAD) is booming! We are currently standing up 10 active duty battalions throughout the world and one in Germany just went active. The difference between a 14S and a 14P is really no different A 14 P has been Trained at the school house or deployed on the C-RAM and when the guard catches up all 14S will be 14P. promotions at all levels are very easy right now as long as you are a decent soldier/leader in there were literally hundreds of slots to be filled in the AD alone. The patriot field is beginning to come pack but not as much as SHORAD from the Monthly briefings that we have been getting for the last six months. If you don’t believe what I’m say saying, open up clearance jobs or LinkedIn and look for the instructor positions that are available right now. as I said before by the end of this fiscal year call 14S Will be 14P. If you are already an S all you need to do is a three week course and you will be fully MOSQed or if you have deployed of the C-RAM already you will not have to take the course. We are new longer avenger/Stinger crew members we are AMD Erin missile defense crewmembers are at the field is getting very exciting. I could promise you this unless you are a PSG there is there way you will be stuck behind a desk working on three weapons systems. And you do three years that I have bid here at the school house I have never seen as many students as we have now. ADA is far from a dying branch it may have been over the last eight years during the last administration but, I promise you The 14S/P field is far far from dying companies like Raytheon are getting several contracts to rebuild the branch and retirees are at the forefront of this task we are putting together several bit teams in order to accomplish the mission of rebuilding this branch to all of its glory and more! There are even three prototype avengers and they are modernizing The weapon systems as we speak and will be going out like in 2021If not sooner. If you have any questions feel free to hit me up anytime about the global I have a contractor account at a military account which I monitor daily.

Hey SGT had a few quesitons, just got out of marines looking to go NG or Active army, national guard offered me 14s and Army offered me 14p, national guard said they don't have 14p. What would really be the difference and do you get any deployment with the NG for 14s?

that's a good question, in fact I recently inquired with a recruiter about doing the same except I'm already AGR.

Air defense is expanding. You might think 14S is just parked on the FOB, which is stinger avenger/C-RAM. 14S deployment experiences are vastly different than PATRIOT deployments. Specifically 14S deploy to iraq/Afghan.
This an exciting time to be in the branch with multiple opportunities......I suggest using your gi bill and commisioning if you really want to get back in.

Sir the 14 S/P field is booming right now The active duty is standing up 10 new battalions for Avenger and C-RAM as we speak. I am at AIT instructor so I am up here at FCoE Get monthly briefing with my students from the branch and Directors directly so I can tell you with great confidence that it is really growing and fast I have never seen as many students as we have now in the three years that I have been on Fort Sill. what they keep reinforcing to us is they are going to keep a few see ram BTRYs but the focus is on bringing back Avenger/Stinger.

Sorry I forgot to tell you that 14S and 14P will be the savable west by the end of the year. The only difference is that a 14P gets 3 weeks of C-RAM training and are certified to maintain and operate the Gun platform.

Sorry that was a typo the beginning my message was…the 14S and 14P is the same field and systems by, the end of fiscal year 2018 all of us will be 14P. To transition from 14S to 14P, there is a three week course
(14PY2) that will train certified 14S soldiers on The C-RAM if, you have soldiers that have deployed all the C-RAM your battalion S3 Only needs to send a memo and supporting documents which soldiers have already completed the training or have deployed on the gun and they will not have to complete the course (14PY2) after the Memo and supporting documents are cleared it usually takes two days soldiers will automatically become 14P. This will save lots of time funding and open more class seats for soldiers who need it.

What if you are looking for a 14 series that will see the least amount of field time? Also re enlisting and will more than likely be limited to the 14 series as well. Would love to sit behind a desk in the ac and get paid as much as the ones in the field

Jeez, I got ho'd out to 3 other branches on my tours. No secondary MOS awarded but I spent more time playing 11B than 14 series
