For many of us, this will probably be dominated by the .45 Cal. Model 1911 Pistol (in service since 1911) and the .50 Cal. M2 Machinegun (Manufactured since 1921). For me, it was the above 2 weapons, plus the Smith & Wesson Model 1905 .38 Special Revolver. Please make this weapons that you actually used, carried, or operated as a service member. (The Navy guys will probably win. They never throw anything away.)

1911. Marines get everything the Navy throws out.

Oh yeah. Trained with M1s at ITR and Okinawa. Better than the M14 except for that magazine thing.

Being Mech Infantry I used both the 1911 and M2. The 1911 was always with me, I even had it on my left hip in the photo. But I did shoot another old one once in RVN, it was a M1918 BAR that I repaired for an ARVN and then tested the hell out of it. There was also many non issue firearms carried, either sent from home or passed on by guys finishing their tour.

Hey, it's a vintage weapon, but there are a few guys who are alum of the 90mm recoilless rifle, which preceded the LAW.

For me a tanker in the eighties- M2, 1911 and M3 (Grease Gun). All were an absolute joy to fire.

I believe that you were close to being the last generation to be issued those old .45's.

Before going to Vietnam, we familiarized with the old WW-2 M-3 Infrared Rifle Scope (with the big spotlight mounted on top). Far from the oldest in years, but light-years ago insofar as technology is concerned.

Oh, that 106 mm with the time/distance "Bee Hive" round was a real Tie-Breaker.
