Are you asking about getting a school in your contract or being an instructor at a school?

Getting a school. I looking towards the future. I know that once I start getting looked at for an E7 board these small details can make a difference when competing with peers.

You can get an ASI/SIQ/Language associated with your MOS...anything other than that, you can request schooling through your unit.

When reenlisting for a school, there are two questions that need to be answered. Are you eligible and who is paying for it. If it is outside the needs of your MOS, then don't even try (think the Military Free Fall Basic Course). If it is school that is open to any MOS (like Airborne School) and it is something your unit has funding for, then the chances are decent. You can also boost your chances for a school if you reenlist for a pinpoint assignment where the school is a requirement (such as the 101st for Air Assault or the 82d for Airborne).
