Currently a PA student, prior 68W in the Army Reserve for 3 years. Also, will I be able to pick my duty station?

Have begun working with an AMEDD recruiter? Most PA can apply 6 months from graduation of an accredited Masters Program and passing thier PA-C exam. If you are currently in the IRR there are steps to get released from the Reserve prior to earning an active duty Commission as a 1LT. As for duty station of choice, once selected you would need to contact the SP program manager at the Health Seevice Directorate at HQ Recruiting Command. They can tell you what’s available. Keep in mind, most PA wont go to a hospital in thier first assignment. Most likely you’ll be assigned to a BN Aide Station or a BN to serve as a provider under the BDE Surgeon. Or you’ll be assigned to a large Troop Clinic. Good luck.

SPC (Join to see) First, congratulations on getting into PA school! While drinking from the fire hose, I would suggest you consider looking into the National Guard. You can get another good year while in school, gain access to PA mentors, and potentially secure alternative commissioning plan. The drill pay may even come in handy. I will defer comment on your primary plan to my colleagues on Active Duty and more up to date information. “Learn all that you can, and then teach all that you know.”

You will have very little say in your duty station unless you accept an additional service obligation for your choice.
