What is the process for transitioning from commissioned officer to aviation warrant officer?

I am a reserve 2LT that was waiting to attend a non-aviation BOLC this month. But that was canceled due to the virus and pushed back to FY21. My plan was always to transition to warrant aviation after 1LT years. But with the recent changes I would be 18 months since commissioning at the earliest by the time I would graduate from BOLC. My question is would it make more sense to purse the warrant aviation route now instead of spending 18 months or more as untrained 2LT. Also, if anyone here has made the transition from commissioned to warrant, what was the process?

Being a non rated officer at this time, you would not be able to renounce you commission to be a Aviation Warrant Officer because you are not an aviation Officer. You would need to complete a warrant officer packet and submit it for one of the two officer to warrant selection boards a year.

If he was an aviation officer, he would only be able to apply for aviation warrant through a reappointment application, if he was planning to stay Army Reserve.

It’s really more of a question for yourself. Would you rather become and aviator or wait for your school. I promise you the process of applying, becoming a Warrant Officer and completing flight school will be longer than 18 months. But, if thats the route you want to go it was amazing and I haven't regretted it. You need to contact a member of the Warrant Officer recruiting team and discuss your specific situation.
