I've sustained an injury that put my arm in a sling and since then has made it quite difficult to put my belt on so I found some suspenders that are close to green and have worn them. They don't show with the blouse on nor do they impede my mission status of being broken. I've checked AR 670-1 and I can't find anything that helps

Have your Doc write you s Temp profile so you can use them if it's that hard to put a belt on and your Doc says that your arm must not move, he shouldn't have a problem with writing one out. This way if anyone says anything you are covered.

I agree with SSG Clarence Blackburn. I number of years ago someone had a great idea that we all needed to wear berets. I was undergoing laser treatments on my face and my dermatologist told me to stay out of the sun. (not the easiest thing in our line of work) I asked him to write a profile directing me to wear a hat with a brim. I was the envy of the Army! lol (everyone hated the beret and I got to wear a PC) I framed that profile. Anyways, get a profile and keep it on you. Ensure it specifically states that you need to wear suspenders.

Pretty sure they are acceptable wear, though not issued. Stay in the army color scheme. Most leaders will not care as it doesn't detract from your professional appearance.

You should probably wear tan suspenders since that is the color of the shirt and the belt.

Whomever gives you any issues with suspenders, provided they are not psychedelic, ask them to buckle/ unbuckle you every time you need to go to the latrine!

If your a reservist you shouldn't have ANY problems with wearing suspenders. Get with your chain of command and let them know the issue. You shouldn't have to get a profile. It's one weekend a month. Of course there's always a chance of getting "static" over something this small. Hope it works out for you. If you was in my unit I would tell you to do what you have to do. Just my opinion.

Try AR 40-1. It's the medical guidelines and will have any 'exceptions to policy' including clothing.. like to wear tennis shoes for a foot profile. I know suspenders were never really 'outlawed' with BDU's because, if you could find them, there was a time when OD green suspenders were a supplement to the belt in both fatigues and BDU's. The army actually had a line item number for suspenders.

The reg does not mention suspenders, but it does specifically state that the trousers be worn with a belt.

That is true. You may need to go get that profile, or just keep your belt on your pants.

SGT (Join to see) Tyler I really don't think you are going to have an issue since they are not seen with your top on. I love that you are taking the time to check things out before doing something that you think could wrong though. If anyone gives you crap about the suspenders, call me, I have connections in your neck of the woods :) Miss seeing you around... get that arm better so you can get back out hunting.

A docs note and a profile should do the trick. If you were my troop you wouldn't even need that. Common sense would make a showing

I'm probably dating myself but I remember being issued suspenders. Ive only seen one guy ever wear them. I think the easiest COA would be to run this up your NCO support channel. If you look in AR 670-1 is says the Commander can make uniform modifications to suit the mission. If your 1SG and CO are on board I doubt you'll catch any flak.

I recall suspenders were required and issued for the DRESS BLUES.

I typically wore suspenders on field problems, particularly when I would be carrying around a lot of stuff in my cargo pockets. I didn't like having to keep pulling my pants up every few minutes....

There care ACU suspenders out in the shops but you got to look for them. I found a pair in the post exchange or your favorite Tactical mail order catalog. I had to get them for the large fluctuation in my weight during deployments.
