What is the regulation addressing socks with ACUs/OCPs? Does it state whether or not you can have logos on your socks?

If nobody can see your socks then you're good. If you're leadership is making you take your boots off and inspect socks. You have some misguided leadership including chain of support (1SGs and CSMs).

The day that happens in my unit and I cannot stop it sir, is the day I start shopping around for a new unit...

SSG(P) Ryan R. - I meant if they're worried more abouts socks nobody can see than ensuring soldiers can fight and win wars is poor leadership. I think soldiers have the right to notice poor leadership. The exception is soldier going to WLC, Air Assault, Ranger School or any other school that failing to bring the proper equipment means failure.

Unless gentleman its during the field- and then by god I will inspect your feet in order to maintain your health, cut down on blisters, jungle rot etc.

Thanks on the info on the US Army sock specification. I agree with the SGM.
I've found left and right-specific socks work much better than standard socks on walks over a mile or two. The foot bounce is much more comfortable on the arch. Feels like you're walking on pillows instead of dirt. I just want to make sure we have a valid spec out there for these. My wife got mine at Georgia Tech, when she picked me up some on a whim since I am an alumni. They are marked with a "L" and "R" to designate what foot they go on. Go Jackets!

Great now I have this image in my head that I am going to spot someone at DFW Airport in Bobby Socks with Boots and wearing an ACU.....lol I always got a laugh out of the very few Soldiers that would wear white cotton socks under their black boots.

When I was transferred into a flight company and put on flight status I was issued the Fire Resistant Environmental Ensemble (FREE). As part of that issue I received "Darn Tough" brand socks. They have a logo on the side and "Darn Tough" on the toes. They're amazing socks too btw if you don't mind paying $25/pair.

AR 670-1. I would suggest asking your team leader if you are unsure. His job is to ensure you don't make mistakes. To make it easy for you, you are never to wear socks with logos be it ACU, ASU, or APFU. When in ACUS or multicams, your only options are green or black socks. Additionally on deployment Under Armour of any sort is not authorized due to the potential of the clothes melting to your skin in the event of fire.

I was told you could wear black or green socks but like the other people said you can't have socks showing. I always blouse my ACUs so you can never see my socks. Regardless of logo or not.

why do you need Logos on the socks... Plain and simple socks work well... you are not in a fashion show...

PFC, those socks that the Army issued you.....THOSE are the socks you are to be wearing with your duty uniform. And since they don't have logos on them..........

Hey staff sergeant, do you still wear the stiff, tan brown, tighty-witey underwear that the Army issued you to wear ?

Maybe his socks did, too?
And as a private, he might not know the regs, which is why he asked. So that he doesn’t buy the wrong new socks, and because god forbid, some pencil pushing NCO with a bad attitude and free time might decide to bust his balls and say “lookie here joes, let’s hike up them pant legs and do a sock inspection!” Sound familiar?
For the most part, privates don’t care how rough, tough, hard or even mean an NCO drives them. As long as it’s respectful, they’ll run through walls for you. But that condescension bullsh*t (refer to your original comment, directed to a privates question) flies for about 32 seconds and then they tune you out. Save the condescending ball busting for the equivalent echelon where you run the risk of getting it returned.

Edit: two days later, and no reply from the SSG? Shocking...

I didn't wear anything but socks and T-shirts- ARMY T-Shirts. My socks were white because 1. We learned that in jungles/swamps- the dye would cause increased foot infections. 2. When things got lousy- white socks made damn fine bandages. You better believe that for every inspection, every layout I had the required designated Army underwear and it was spotless.

PFC when we transitioned from BDU to ACU I remember the socks where green with no logo. My favorite is the wick like socks. When rucking, it's best to use standard issue. Also to add get a wire brush to clean the desert boots. The main thing is to look presentable at all times. Mostly on Mondays.

Thank you SSG, I usually wear the green standard-issue socks on a regular basis, on ruck marches I'll wear dress socks under my green socks to prevent from rubbing/blistering.

Well that's a new one. I have heard of that trick before. I usually see my battle buddies put duct tape. I don't by the hype, heard of whole soles come off. I would just stick with standard issue.SGT (Join to see) -

Just use common sense. Wear whatever is functionally the best for you as long as no one sees them. If your going for an inspection or something, use the ol army issue. Lot of robots out here saying otherwise. Just use your brain (know the reg, know when to follow, know when to not)
