Up to this point i have not yet met with my recruiter. Just calling and text messages at this point. As of now im working on getting him my medical records. He said he has to get them and then have whoever look threw them. I have heard some pretty terryifying enlistment stories of people going in years later from when they first talked to their recruiter. But I heard that reserves is the same process but is a little different when it comes to some of the earlier processes then it is from active duty. Lets say that i get my recruiter the paper work and everything is good. So i believe MEPS is next right? How does MEPS usually work. Is it one of those deals where they only hold a certain amount each year and if you dont happen to get one of those dates then S.O.L or do you get to choose and work to your work or school schedule? Then after MEPS comes the process of getting setup for boot camp. Do i get to pick that date of when i go. Or does the recruiter call me saying hey what you doing this weekend? Oh you got plans.... to bad your basic date is this weekend be their. Or is it more like he sits down with me and says these are the dates pick one. Because im looking to go in for next winter Oct Nov ish no later then that. Since thats not for awhile will i be able to set the date in advance or am i gona have to wait last minuete. And then after Basic is MCT is this the same process in terms of ship dates as it is with basic or is it different? Before I sighn the dotted line will my recruiter have a play by play of when my dates for all this is or will it be a hey theirs and open class on this date deal. If he does. Does this include my MOS school. I know those can be a little tricky because of certain classes at certain times. Looking to hopefully bang all this out during winter. Looking to go in for equiptment operator if any of you guys have any info on that MOS feel free to chim in.

Conner Fleury Once you have your medical records together, provide them to the recruiter. If you are cleared to enlist (questionable), then set down with the recruiter face to face with a list of your questions. As I have mentioned on your previous posts dealing with enlisting having to fit into your business schedule, you are subject to the military schedule, not the other way around. There is no one (no one) that can promise you that you will finish all of your training on a schedule that suits you. Explain to your recruiter how enlisting has to be on a rigid schedule that you set, and see what he tells you.

What to Expect in Your First Visit to MEPS
MEPS is a Department of Defense joint-service organization. Here's an overview of what you can expect when you make that first trip to the MEPS.

Just get everything in writing. What MOS are you thinking? Reserves is a lot different than active duty, you sure thats the path you want to go down? If its something combat arms, ask yourself: do you want the guy covering your 6 to be a professional Marine 365 days a year as a career, or a guy named Adin who's taking some classes at the community college and delivering pizzas for dominos

I want to go in for equiptment operator. I have my own excavation company so i think that the experience and schooling will benefit my company. Not to mention the benefits u receive from the military. Active duty isnt really an option for me. Doesnt really spark my interest. Only thing i would go active for would be a combat mos. Infantry or recon

Cpl John Barker - As much as id like to go active and be in the shit. It just wont work with my way of life and where my life is going. Plus id hate to sighn for 4 yrs as recon or infantry and not even be able to apply what ive been trained for. Considering the war is just about over i dont see how they would have much use for me by the time i would get in.
