I am not a VA Move Coordinator but was a volunteer in this program at the VA hospital in Palo Alto CA a few years ago to study the effects of diet and exercise for healthy living. And may be able to answer some questions about how important diet is for an overall Fitness Program. But talking to your VA Care Provider is probably better if you are serious about changing your eating habits to maintain a healthy life style. You may have to have a complete physical exam before beginning this program at the VA.

Basically the Move Program suggests decreasing fat from your diet and increasing cardio exercises. Hope this helps to answers some of the questions from the recent discussion I started "Is Staying Fit Hard For You?" & the VA Move Program & Green Diet was mentioned.

Good Stuff.....try to check your weight a few times a week & if you gain a few lbs then try to cut back on any bad eating habits and/or increase your workouts. Managing your weight after losing 20lbs will take some effort and good luck..

Q. What is MOVE!?
A. MOVE! is VA's national weight management program developed for Veterans by the National Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (NCP). MOVE! is an evidence-based self-management program that focuses on health and wellness through healthy eating, physical activity, and behavior change. MOVE! can help you lose weight, keep it off, and improve your health. Every VA Medical Center has a dedicated MOVE! Coordinator who is available to assist you. If you are interested in losing weight and want to participate in MOVE!, talk to your local MOVE! Coordinator or VA provider who can help you get started.

I like the term MOVE. "Like MOVE your fat tush, Soldier!" Lol. It is a good program a friend of went thru the program in Denver, CO. And he lost 50 lbs so I guess it works if you commit to the guidelines. You get out what you put in.
