I remember when I was discharged and I had to be on unemployment for 6 months - Not a good feeling when you are used to working and contributing to the team in the military.

The very little orientation I received before being discharge still made looking for job in the civilian job market a scary, daunting task.  The biggest issue was being able to make my resume, with my military job related acronyms and terms, translate into civilian jargon.  I found out how to make the translations in my resume be marketable to potential employers.  Interviewing for a job became a breeze, once I found out the hot buttons of hiring managers. No different than any senior Non-commissioned Officers or E-10s you worked for.

What has been your experiences in the civilian job market with looking for a job?
