I remember an elderly lady in a nursing home was asked this question and she replied: "Well, I don't have a single favorite verse, but I like when it says 'and it came to pass.' It didn't come to stay...Praise the Lord!"

The Beginning of the Gospel according to St. John
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.
