From a strictly aesthetic point of view I've always considered the Silver Star as the most beautiful American Medal. The combat patch of the Airborne Brigade of the Cav is among the most unique. As for badges, the Master Parachutist Badge is a great combination of classic design and long tradition. Somehow all three showed up on the uniform hanging in the closet.

The 2 that come to mind for me are tabs that my unit made up. They weren't authorized in garrison, but they were worth the questions overseas.
The first one is my EX-17 tab. We were allowed to wear it simply because the task force commander didn't want to punish our entire chinook unit.
The second wasn't allowed to be displayed so we hid it on the inside velcro. That was the combat jack tab. That one is better left unexplained on public forums.

Coin given to me at Fort Lewis for being the top female in the physical fitness challenge. Superior Cadet is the 2nd highest medal you can get in JROTC, and the Purple Heart Leadership award. The SAI or AI have to recommend this and the organization decides if the cadet deserves it and meets the requirements. I wanted to serve in the Army, I ended up becoming a wife of a soldier, a mother of a soldier and in all 6 kids I raised and still raise. We are a military family. I’m very proud. My son returned from deployment a month ago and my husband will be home from his year deployment in July. These are the most important medals and coin I have gotten for my time in Army JROTC. Still proud of myself.
