Our first thanksgiving as a family (wife, son and me) at Camp Pendleton. We invited about 12 guys from my outfit and it was our very first attempt at cooking a turkey. Turkey turned out great and was one of the best memorable Thanksgivings ever.

Hope everyone is blessed with a fantastic Thanksgiving this year.

I arrived at my new unit on Camp Casey, Korea 2 days before Thanksgiving in '74.
Thanksgiving morning, 1986, my wife & young son departed Germany on Emergency Leave after her mother had a stroke.

On the brighter side, after I retired, on Thanksgiving we'd get AIT students from Ft Sam Houston for the day.

Spending many of them either deployed or in the field, old school field problems didn't have the luxury of working around holidays, we were soldiers 24/7 and that including field time during holidays. But the camaraderie was always there, I think even more sometimes. I hope that even though you received no responses to this feed and only one vote that you had a wonderful and loving holiday. Thank you for the post.
