Verbal judo. At my age if I can't talk my way out of a situation then Glock .40. I'm old and brittle and I don't believe in a fair fight with someone stronger and faster.

Fair fight.....To hell with that, not getting hurt is my goal.

MSG (Join to see) - My brother loves .40, I enjoy the extra rounds offered by 9, given the relatively minor difference in ballistics. He swears by it though.

SSG Vik Polivka - Always go with what you're comfortable with. My dainty wife tried a 9mm ... damn near smacked her in the face. The .22 fit her like a glove. And then she bedazzled it ... She is and forever will be my girly girl.

As a recreational/fitness thing I choose jujitsu. It is easier on my body than say judo or kickboxing. I am 47 and have to be much more careful and use my mind and experience over the younger guys. However, for real self defense if I can't 'diplomatically' avoid it- 911 or 9mm whichever is more appropriate for the moment.

BTW my EDC is Glock 30S (.45) and if I need something slimmer (business suit e.g.) or BUG in addition, I use Sig P238 (.380) Looks like a micro 1911.

I've taken Hagganah, Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu and a few others I've dabbled in. Each one brings something to the table, but the forms I'm comfortable with and that work naturally in a given situation are the ones I use in a confrontation.

Have you gone to Benning for MACP4 (I think it's Master Trainer now)? Mixing is good, I learned a lot with a little boxing, like how to actually punch correctly. I think it gets overlooked, and the drills you learn are great for incorporating into any style that uses strikes.

Isn't Tim Kennedy in Austin?

I was recently introduced to someone who trains with Kennedy. I'm hoping to get an introduction. I'm in the Reserves now so I doubt I'll ever get level 4

SFC Josh Billingsley - Might bump into him at Shot Show. Just walk up, and punch him in the face, I think you get a free class for that.
