Those of us who have served in the Army, (and I single out Army because I don't know about the other services), have worn many different unit crests. What I want to know is which one you are proudest to have worn? Supply picture if possible. This is mine it is from the 4th BN 31st Infantry Regiment. Pro Patria

U army 172 field artillery arng new hampshire unit crest 10508
From my time in 1-172nd FA.

I imagine a bunch of old school 13B's seating the round, slamming the breach shut, priming and yanking the cord, then looking around confused when the cannon didn't fire. BN CDR gets frustrated and makes "Load With Canister" the motto.

The BN was organized after WWI. The BN landed on Utah Beach 14 June 1944 and started firing on the 15th. But I can't find anything on the origin of the BN motto.

Your idea of how the motto came to be, while comical, is probably spot on.

My first permanent station has a rather unique unit crest:

Polar Bears!
I was heartbroken when, after regimentally affiliating with the 31st, I was told I could no longer have it as my RDI because I went MI, and therefore I was MI regiment, period. I was ecstatic when they later changed the rules, and I could re-affiliate with the 31st, which I promptly did. Reyired proudly with a Polar Bear on my chest, if not on my shoulders.
