How do you understand Resilience, and what does your Chain of Command do to promote it? How do current programs, or their implementation, leave you wanting?

That's a bit complicated, especially if you are having issues.
Resilience is the ability to bounce back from difficult situations. I teach Resiliency skills to the military and veterans and their families for the Red Cross. The workshops are free but we have problems getting in to do them. We get told "we have our own program" which is inevitably a deck of powerpoint slides no one wants to see versus our 60-90 min skills teaching interactive workshop.

All too common. On the bright side, DoD and CBP have partnered to explore why our organizations adopt particular resources, why the best resources are not available across our workforce, and how we can better connect those in need with the most custom-fit support. Part of that is educating our members to better recognize signs of need in their friends and colleagues, and to connect them with the most appropriate resources. Of course, the best training approaches are yet another resource we struggle to apply consistently across our vast organizations. Thanks for your feedback - we're working hard to open doors for better collaboration, both within and with helping organizations like the Red Cross. I'm thankful for what you've brought to those you've engaged so far, and I hope we can expand your access...

My first impression is confusion and devoid of one Principle of War: Simplicity. It looks like a plate of spaghetti. We paint the picture to understand the battlefield, not to make it confusing.

Resilience programs have come a long way since I was on active duty. After hearing MG Dana Pittard’s story, I found his approach at Fort Bliss to be really innovative: https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/03/the-general-who-went-to-war-on-suicide-214923

Wow, what a great article, thanks for sharing. It's really problematic to announce that something is a priority, but then not apply authority or funding to the efforts that would make it successful. Definitely not an easy challenge to address, given our strategic priorities and bureaucratic organizations.
