I don't think I'll ever be happy when someone whose job is to resolve things peacefully is killed, even if they work for a country I don't trust or like.

Sorry for the typos, I did it with my smartphone on voice text. I guess maybe I feel it more because my first cousin from Honduras is Deputy ambassador in Ottawa Canada he's like number 2. So I probably feel that someone like him could be murdered. I guess it's more of a human being thing. Russians aren't like your Arab extremist and countries like Iran they don't believe in a death wish. That's why I think we avoided the Cuban Missile Crisis from turning into World War 3 since the Russians didn't want to die And1 submarine captain getting depth charge from American depth charge simulators simulators near Cuba did not want to launch his nuclear torpedo knowing it would start World War 3. He was also on the submarine that was called the Widowmaker that had a nuclear accident and he saw his crew die from radiation exposure the year earlier.

LTC Stephen Conway - Yeah, part of an ambassador's job is to put themselves in vulnerable situations. I'm just glad that 999 out of 1,000 times, that is honored and respected.

SGT Jeremiah B. - good or bad as our possible adversary he was serving his country even if schmoozing people in North Korea or turkey he was still doing his job and he was a career diplomat. He was serving his country just like we would have a foreign area officer serve his country in another country

SGT Jeremiah B. - It is definitely not The Ambassador's job to put himself in harm's way. The Ambassador is the diplomatic mission. To put him in jeopardy would be an admission the country is vulnerable. The personnel of the security and intelligence groups may accept being placed in jeopardy to accomplish their respective missions - but The Ambassador is to be protected and extracted from unanticipated jeopardy no matter the cost. Therefore we do everything to avoid placing The Ambassador in any jeopardy. Warmest Regards, Sandy :)
This whole situation is crazy and very sad that someone lost their life. I do have to say this though...where was his security detail? How did a high value individual like an ambassador not have at least two armed security personnel near him controlling his area?

Very true it and seeing the picture of the guy in the background while he was speaking looking like security is strange and irresponsible

Ambassadors are supposed to be sacrosanct and those who violate that long-standing practice should be hunted down and if possible (i.e. not killed during the capture), handed over to the offended country. To that end, I have had a bug up my ass for Iran since 1979. I am neither happy nor sad about it but I do have an opinion so I couldn't select any of the options provided.

LTC Stephen Conway - Professional hit - that was most likely organized by Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETO) trying to derail the easing of Russian-Turkish relations - and to derail the Syrian peace process. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is reported to have said "This is a provocation to damage the normalisation process of Turkish-Russian relations." So, this operation will most likely not only fail to achieve its objective - but has backfired and will produce exactly opposite result. This will be of little comfort to Andrei Karlov's family - but in a sense his sacrifice helped make substantial progress toward his personal objectives as the Russian Ambassador to Turkey over the past four years. Warmest Regards, Sandy :)

SFC George Smith also noted that there was no personal security detail from the Embassy. There should have been at least one or two Russian Agents protecting him. Were Where they?

LTC Stephen Conway - I cannot say anything about their disposition. But, I can say there were state security services in the immediate vicinity of the operation. I would not want to be one of these men - who will be recalled to home and aggressively "debriefed." Russians do not offer up their ambassadors to be sacrificed. Warmest Regards, Sandy :)
this is most interesting But where was his protection Detail... Need more information but i'm concerned it was a setup...

Georgia never thought of that. If so, this is be like Hitler morning General Rommel after he took poison has a way to save face after being involved in the conspiracy to kill Hitler in the summer of 1944.

Bad situation with anyone being assassinated/murdered a sin in His Book. That said, the potential reactions can be bad. Increased Russian "security" was what we saw when the Soviets grabbed neighboring countries. Now if they go out and grab every male in Karlov's family and neuter them, thus ending the line, that wouldn't be the first time they've done that either. So time will tell.

Sorry to see a diplomat lose their life, however I'm not a fan of Turkey or Russia. Cooperation between those two powers would likely be very bad for the Kurd's, and I do wan them to have peace and security.

Honestly my opinion is in regards to our current generation (that I am sometimes disheartened to be a part of). I feel like the majority have forgotten history and what originally was the catalyst for WWI. I've talked to many individuals in my platoon that shrug it off with no formal opinion and are not concerned whatsoever. Our world as a whole needs to be more educated as to the geopolitical rammifications that an assissination like this can have.
