SSG Vasquez is correct after you NREMT and APFT you get to wear your class B off post. But to be honest you should probably study. Whiskey phase is no joke

I attended both as you will. You won’t see much of fort sill to be honest, other than family day or graduation. You will be strictly kept in the reception area until shipping off to your battery for bct. At that point you will only see most of the training areas and your barracks. You will likely get phone privileges on Sundays after red cycle from what I remember. Other than that don’t expect to do anything other than what the DS’s tell you to do.

Fort Sam on the other hand, should allow you to leave post once done with nremt. You will have your phone, with the exception of during class/training. I’m sure a lot has changed and from what I’ve heard you might have to wear class b uniform when going off post, but it’s a privilege none the less. It’s still very much training and wouldn’t be worried about privelages too much, focus on learning and absorbing as much information as possible. Good luck.

I went to ft sill for basic and phone privileges will vary based on the battery (company) you are assigned to. some get it every Sunday others get it once a phase. You will only see the rest of the post on family day. You will hear a lot about the king of battle and will hear artillery. At AIT you will have any electronic you want in your room. the beginning half will suck because it is death by PowerPoint everyday and even on the weekends you can't wear civis and go where you want. After you pass the NREMT you can go anywhere on post in civis and can go anywhere off post in uniform. I always went off post in regular clothes because I could take off my pt belt and throw it in a backpack and I would blend in with everyone else. I would suggest waiting a week or 2 after getting your privilege to do that because your sergeants will most likely be at the gates the first weekend to catch people trying to do that. whiskey phase is more fun because it is hands on training everyday with significantly less time in the class room. also in the evenings you can go to dinner by yourself instead of marching to chow in the evening, but that might have changed since I graduated because almost everyone ate fast food instead

I graduated from fort sill basic yesterday. Depends on the battery on how much rucking you will do. Be in shape before you come! I enjoyed my time. Oklahoma is windy and cold in the winter, I imagine the summers are pretty hot and humid to!

I used my phone about 3 times at basic for only about 10-15 mins each time. You are highly restricted to what you can/can’t do.

Fort Sam there is "phases" and you will get a patch that you wear on your shoulder for each phase. Phase IV when you get there you cant really do much. You get marched to chow, to class, etc... cant leave post. When you get phase V, you can go to dinner chow by with a battle buddy. You can go off post but you have to be in your dress blues and have a battle buddy, no overnights. That was 5 years ago. Recently went back to Sam and visited an instructor friend of mine at the school house and seems to still be the same.

Cell phones, internet (assuming they don’t put you in the abandoned barracksfor foxtrot echo and some of delta co) it’s a lot more freedom when you get past NREMT I went to sill as well and there’s not a lot out there unless you like history such as Geronimos grace but at samhousten the defaq is airforce good and off post food is even better also visit the Alamo while your out there if you get the chance.

Went to sill. Was at C1/31. It wasn’t bad. Honestly it was easy. Do as your told. Don’t speak unless spoken to. Everything you’ve already heard. First week sucks as they’re breaking you down and your gonna get strong. As it progresses, they don’t lay off, you just mess up less so it feels easy.

AIT at sam was rough for NREMT. Study. Friends are gonna want to go life and run the track and this that n other. Study. Once ur done studying. Study some more. After black phase, yellow phase is when the fun starts. First week of Whiskey training is your quick review of clinic. Sick call procedure, very little Physical therapy, and mostly learning how to write SOAP notes. Once you start the trauma portion you’ll have a blast. You wear your gear everywhere. From 0700 after PT to lunch to dinner until your days over. Afterwards you usually have some Hw from the school house but if you manage correctly, you’ll have time to get fat at the shoppette across the street or go to the student center lift weights hit the PX and even leave post.

Phase 5+ you get off base privilege for roughly 8hrs. You still have hit times so don’t miss. You’ll have fun man. Enjoy it.

My memory of Fort Sill is that it was dusty, hot, and had a lot of spiders.

Not really what I was asking. I was more curious about stuff like the px , off base time, ect. I'm gonna be studying my ass off, but down time is good to keep my head on straight and not fuck up on an exam
