The Army has reviewed all mandatory training in order to reduce the amount of time we spend doing non-MOS related training. It has gone back and forth within the upper levels of the Army. From the ground level though, what do you think we need to remove? The virtual SERE training is one of the top 5 I can think of.

I figured I'd ask a military question about training of all things in the midst of all these political discussions. What the heck.

If I had to pick one, it would be the Cyber Awareness Challenge. I think you should have to do it the first 5 years in the Army, and then once at every 5 year mark after that. Once you have done it the first five years, you know the difference between right and wrong on a computer. Anything after that is on purpose. Especially with how much technology is in the Army now.

CSM Carl Cunningham, I knew this would be one of them. I also figured that this would draw a response about time in service as well. I'd have to agree with you. By now, I have completed A LOT of cyber training. I know what to do and what not to do. I guess that with the proliferation of digitalia however that some people may be a little bit "loose and low" with their on-line habits. By the time you are an E8/MAJ though...either you embrace the intent or you don't. I think you're right.

On the fence with this one. If was effective then we wouldn't have ad the issues we have had with Cyber 'accidents'. The truth is that it would be more effective if we dealt with the offenders more severely and publicly even if it were just plain slaps on the wrists.
I think back to the laundry points bringing SIPR thumb drives to the FOB Mayor. I also recall the many times people were victims to spearfishing and lost their AKO credentials to the bad guys before the days of CAC.

I would agree if personnel would actually read the AUP they agree and sign..

I would keep SHARP and EO. I would eliminate every other one. For everything else the intent can be delivered by NCOs with little to no slides. Return training to the NCOs and away from computer screens with content created by contractors.

CPT Mark Gonzalez I like that idea, but I just can't see them parting ways with Power Point. Some things are just to ingrained for them to get rid of.

Besides that. What would the Staff Officers, and Iron Majors have to do with no PP? Lol
