Of all the awards that I have earned, one of my most cherished is the SAMC (Sergeant Audie Murphy Club) medallion presented to me by the 101 DIV ABN Command Sergeant Major.

Out of all the training i done, nothing felt better than the day i graduated Air Assault School at Ft.Campbell Ky and was presented with the Air Assault coin...i was told i was too small (65 inches tall) and i only had 1 chance to take, and was told that if i didn't survive Zero Day i wouldn't get another chance...

That is a fucked up thing to tell anyone, I am 67 inches tall and when I went through we had a female Major in our class that must have been about 5' even, at about 100 lbs. soaking wet. I passed no problem, and as far as I can remember, so did she.

My 101st Redondo patch an my Expert Infantryman Badge, when I earned my EIB it had to be all first time go s, there were no retest, if you got to your last station and heard the dreaded " you are a nogo at this station, see you next year. Only 6 or seven people out of your company earned it per year. It wasn't a number game.

Having Soldiers I have trained and mentored get promoted and seeing them over the years, progress professionally and personally. This has had a great impact in how I interact with Soldiers today. Awesome feelings of pride to have made a lasting impact.

DHG for my class at OCS. Most accomplished feeling I've had to date.

The appreciation and comments I still get from my peeps from Iraq and other veterans I've met over the years means a lot to me in a way that colored cloth or shiny things can't convey. I know that's more of a philosophical answer, but that's how I view it.
