RP Members, Connections, and Friends I believe there are some really outrageous nicknames that have been handed out to some of you when you served in the Military. Lets' get them out there and don't be embarrased. Please share! This is one of those Posts that just keep giving over time. RP Members keep adding your nicknames.
Don't leave us hanging - share the story behind the nickname too!!
One of my many was: "Burly" and when I was a PFC/E-3 it was "Horse Collar!" Others I can't repeat from Basic Training - use your imagination!

I don't recall anyone giving me a nickname while in the Army. But I did have a black hat in Airborne School who called me 'burrito". Every time I saw him or he saw me, he would call me 'burrito".

The nickname I was given sounds a lot more bad ass than why I was given it. Was given the nickname "Machine". Now, a good friend of mine, Ssgt Mark Mills, was given the nickname "Pee Hole" when he was in bootcamp. A story I always laugh at when told.

“Alabama” more than the others: Bama, Big Country, Boss, KW, Kenny Wayne, and Watt.
I actually have a group of friends that called me “Kenny Willy D’ Wayne Watson and my son was called “Skeeter Cooter Kenny Wayne Jr.”... they were a ruff crowd.

I considered it a compliment and a right of passage , in being accepted into a Ranger Rifle line company as the new platoon “DOC” you had better have your skills together .

In Basic Training my nickname was "Drill Sergeant." Now, my troops and others call me "Big Sarge." And not in the derogative manner.

Very interesting PO2 David Keener Do you care to share the story behind that nickname?

Sure thing. I graduated boot in December which put us on holiday leave for 17 days. While I was on leave I bleached the top of my head (not the sides) and showed up to my first unit. I guess I hadn't fully integrated mentally. Anyway, my old salt, country boy of an MKC said I looked like a GD Q-Tip and it stuck. Thankfully that's all that he did as I could have been in a lot more trouble. :P

COL Mikel J. Burroughs Well, in the Air Force, we call them "Call Signs". In Intelligence, we generally all get one eventually. I was given the same call sign at two separate bases, independently, so after a while you just go with it. The last time I was call signed it was on my second day at Kunsan, after I corrected a young Sgt in my shop who was a bit of a maverick. I corrected him three times in one morning before 10:00. I looked at my boss and told him: this guy is wearing me out! I'm going to chow. Apparently I wasn't gone two minutes and he said: "That bastard thinks he knows everything, just like Cliff Klaven" I walked in to a rousing round of "Hey Cliffie"! After two assignments in a row, I just rolled with it. Besides, I have been called by my call sign while flying in the back seat an F16 and an F15, so it kind of became a badge of honor.

MSgt Stephen Council We had call signs in the Army as well and mine was "Eagle 6!" for the longest time.

Hmm, see the Army is as original as the Air Force to come up with that one.
