RP Members, Connections, and Friends I believe there are some really outrageous nicknames that have been handed out to some of you when you served in the Military. Lets' get them out there and don't be embarrased. Please share! This is one of those Posts that just keep giving over time. RP Members keep adding your nicknames.
Don't leave us hanging - share the story behind the nickname too!!
One of my many was: "Burly" and when I was a PFC/E-3 it was "Horse Collar!" Others I can't repeat from Basic Training - use your imagination!

Felcher, which is really a horrible way of describing a sex act. It took about 2 seconds when i reported for basic for my RDC to brand me.

In 1978, my nickname as a 2LT, and 2AD DivArty's S2, was Short Round. Very appropriate since I was barely 5', and needed a waiver to come into the Army. Loved my time in DivArty, went to Fort Sill for training as a counterfire officer.

In basic training every gets fitted for earplugs. In those days they were flanged and my assigned and fitted color code was green. During our first trip to the range to fire our M16A1’s I mentioned to the Drill that my ear hurt and I think my ear plug went too far in my canal. He couldn’t see it so he thought I was full of crap... After the pain became rather intense and AFTER the range I went to the ER and sure enough the earplug was touching my ear drum. The Doctor was amazed it had made it that far as he could not see it initially either.
I was forever known in BT as “Earplug”.

Ronbo. My name is Ron and President Regean was kicking ass during my time in service so I got Ronbo, after the President.

My nickname was "Sabot" given to me during Armor Basic Course by a handful of Georgia National Guard second lieutenants. The old 105 mm training sabot rounds were really short, and at 5'2" I am very short as well. I think I was a major before that nickname went away.

SP5 Thomas Jameson
But since I was ASA, usually we were respectful and just called each other by our first name (sgts too) and just got in with the mission.

38 years ago, when I went to basic training this ol boy from California asked me where I was from. I told him I was from Alabama. He called me Alabama Joe, and the rest of the platoon just picked up on it. He said, "Tell me something Alabama Joe, do y'all ride horses to school in Alabama?" I took umbrage with his question, but I just told him that only people with money rode horses to school, and since I didn't come from money, I had to walk . He didn't quite know how to respond, and I never told him any different.
