RP Members, Connections, and Friends I believe there are some really outrageous nicknames that have been handed out to some of you when you served in the Military. Lets' get them out there and don't be embarrased. Please share! This is one of those Posts that just keep giving over time. RP Members keep adding your nicknames.
Don't leave us hanging - share the story behind the nickname too!!
One of my many was: "Burly" and when I was a PFC/E-3 it was "Horse Collar!" Others I can't repeat from Basic Training - use your imagination!

Mine was Jorge, especially after marriage to my bride of 36 years from the Philippines. Worked with fellow LCDR whom I called short round. I am 6' 1" and he in his tallest shoes would be pushing 5'6" to 5'61/2" and on a poofy hair day 5'7".

Winchester or Blue Blood.. I was from the Boston area and Charles Emerson Winchester on the show Mash was also a Boston Blue Blood. It was a regular show on the CCTV on our ship. We of course were nothing alike but the guys had fun with it.

Bird was my callsign in Korea. Late one night (0130) we were running an aircraft in a hush house and I was running ground. We were setting the aircraft holdback tool prior to an afterburner run when my comm cord got tangled around the tail hook. I told the run guy I was going to disconnect my comm cord so I could get it untangled quicker (we were at 80% power) I bent down to untangle the cord and my then brand-new velcro fastened coveralls popped open creating what was essentially a wingsuit and down the exhaust pipe I went. I landed about 250 feet away from the exhaust pipe (roughly 4 meters in diameter) right in front of a security forces patrol. They said, "All we saw, was this big green bird fall out of the sky right in front of us!" Now, I kept this whole incident as quiet as possible, I even went downtown to seek medical attention (cost was $300 bucks) 147 stitches, X-rays, minor surgery, etc. I thought I was in the clear till 2 weeks later when our Flight Chief came up to me and asked why did the Wing King refer to me as the "Bird" in the Phase Dock...

MSgt Robert Kagel - No problem, you are lucky to be alive...and there are easier ways to obtain a nick-name....but I would not change it, you earned that one 100%!

While in command of a mechanized infantry company in RVN was referred as "Big Six" in that the number 6 was the numerical part of radio call sign for unit commanders and in that my unit had adopted a dog that wandered into our night location that they named "Little Six".
