RP Members, Connections, and Friends I believe there are some really outrageous nicknames that have been handed out to some of you when you served in the Military. Lets' get them out there and don't be embarrased. Please share! This is one of those Posts that just keep giving over time. RP Members keep adding your nicknames.

Don't leave us hanging - share the story behind the nickname too!!

One of my many was: "Burly" and when I was a PFC/E-3 it was "Horse Collar!" Others I can't repeat from Basic Training - use your imagination!

"Goat ass wiper" was assigned to a to 2/187th Sniper Team in 101st; every time we go out for mission; you end up laying landmines in unforeseen places. I end on a hilltop for LP/OP at one point with a small creek right below my position; anyhow, make story short I use the creek to my advantage for washing my 6; my team leader spotted me about 100 meters out and told him about my accidents and that's how I was baptise, "Goat ass wiper" weird name.

My unit of 18 men lived in off base housing in Taichung, Taiwan. For six months I took care of getting food and other supplies from the Navy quartermaster. I was in charge of 3 indigenous house keepers and cook. I learned to use an abacus to do the daily accounting. During this time I was called House Mom. I was really glad when I rotated out of that job and went back to electronic spy.

SKINNI (skinny). When I joined the AF I was only 109lbs at 5'9". Even after BMT & tech school, by the time I made it to Barksdale, I was still only 112lbs. Guys started calling me SKINNI because of it so it just stuck. Even after transferring over the Navy Reserve & gaining weight, it was a part of me so now, 23 years later, & retired, it's still my name.

Peppermint Patty and "V". Peppermint patty because I chopped all my hair off after I had a hell of a time shooting at the range (my ACH would push down in front of my eyes because of my stupid bun). I ended up looking like peppermint patty. And "V" because it's easier than saying my last name, apparantly.

I got the name Chickenhawk (though I spell it Chcknhawk) while in basic training. I was paired up with the biggest dude in our platoon for pugil stick fighting. I'm only 5'5" and he was about six feet tall. I ended up sweeping the points. It comes from Henry the Chickenhawk from the Foghorn Leghorn cartoons - the little chickenhawk that picks on his much bigger foe, Foghorn. It kinda stuck with me throughout my service because I was always taking on big fights, whether it be missions, administration, or whatever. I never learned to "pick my fights."

"ACE". My last name is 12 characters long, and they just threw away the first nine letters, and used the last three. Besides, no one wanted to try to say "Acquistapace" anyway....
There was one day that my mother called the barracks to talk to me, and asked for "Sgt Acquistapace". The fire watch told here there wasn't anyone here by that name, so mom told her that I was in Rm 121. The duty went in to look at the 'map' of the barracks, came back out and told here that there wasn't any one by that name in that room, so mom finally said "Yes, she's there. You call her Sgt Ace." The duty immediately said "Oh! Yes! She's on duty here!" and handed me the phone. My parents finally accepted that it was my name now. :)
