RP Members, Connections, and Friends I believe there are some really outrageous nicknames that have been handed out to some of you when you served in the Military. Lets' get them out there and don't be embarrased. Please share! This is one of those Posts that just keep giving over time. RP Members keep adding your nicknames.

Don't leave us hanging - share the story behind the nickname too!!

One of my many was: "Burly" and when I was a PFC/E-3 it was "Horse Collar!" Others I can't repeat from Basic Training - use your imagination!

My nickname was Hoss Cuppwright. It was given to me by my subordinates. They knew that I liked to watch Bonaza. I was a pretty large guy at the time and my last name being Cupp, so the guys came up with Hoss Cuppwright. Some of the pilots that I worked with gave me a large coffee cup showing my nickname and I still have this cup and use it still today.

At my first duty assignment at Howard AFB, Panama, I was called Super Troop. They even put it in one of my performance evaluations. Thanks for the question! Brings back fond memories!

They called me "Tad", When I went down south for basic, the southern cadre called me "Alphabet" after seeing my Polish name.
When I got out in 1962, I became a Phila Police officer and the name "Tad" still followed me. When attending roll call at a event while in the police department, a captain, taking the roll, saw my name Tadrzynski, and gave me a new nickname "Tadrolowitz". I responded to Tadrolowitz, explaining that he was out sick today and Tadrzynski was filling in.

On my 3rd tour in Vietnam I served on The USS Flint AE-32, an ammunition ship. As the weapons division LPO, I was in charge of all flight deck staging and vert rep operations involving ammunition transfers. When working the flight deck I wore a red shirt and a soft red helmet that I stored in the Helicopter hanger. One night when I was getting ready for a vert rep op. I grabbed my helmet and someone had stenciled "BULLET BOSS" across the front of the helmet. After that, and for the remainder of the cruise, I was dubbed "The Bullet Boss". I never did find out who coined the name and put it on my helmet, but I suspect it was one of the airdales.

From day one I was known as "BOOGALOO" because no one could say or remember my last name, and because I was from Philly.
