RP Members, Connections, and Friends I believe there are some really outrageous nicknames that have been handed out to some of you when you served in the Military. Lets' get them out there and don't be embarrased. Please share! This is one of those Posts that just keep giving over time. RP Members keep adding your nicknames.

Don't leave us hanging - share the story behind the nickname too!!

One of my many was: "Burly" and when I was a PFC/E-3 it was "Horse Collar!" Others I can't repeat from Basic Training - use your imagination!

My Nick name was Rat! It was because I was the smallest one in our platoon and would fight ferociously!

I actually wasn't given a nickname in the military. My mom gave me my nickname, which is Gus. But it wasn't until the military that anyone called me Gus besides my family. Most people that knew me in uniform, knew me as Gus. Very few actually called me Hillary. My husband hates it, but he has learned to deal with it.

I got the name, "Gadget" (Ft. Benning) after the cartoon, Inspector Gadget. I absolutely had to have the latest electronic gizmo as soon as it came out. I was already into CB radios, World Band Radio and Police scanners but I always bought stuff and also tinkered with the goodies (yes, I owned a few soldering irons). When the small B&W pocket TV's, I had those as well. Later in life, I always carried an ALF (Alien Life Form) plush in my flight helmet bag (Hawaii). When flying, I had it clipped to the aircraft wall so anyone who would see it, even from a distance, knew I was the Crewchief on the aircraft. By then, I was known as ALF which is why I eventually had ALF stenciled to the tail boom stinger cover.
