One thing that makes the US military so great is our ability to overcome adversity. This is no more apparent with what we are facing today with the Covid-19 outbreak.

We are always trying to optimize our forces but sometimes it is required to innovate just to maintain our readiness. One thing I can think off the top of my head is Microsoft Teams. We have several other meeting programs and found them to be less than ideal. But Microsoft built a program that enables users to attend meetings from their computer in their office and even their personal phone from anywhere. I was in a meeting where an NCO was at a dropzone listening in on a meeting. I couldn't help but to think how awesome this is. It reminded me of how the telegraph changed the way the military operated in the Civil War. We may not be fighting a battle but the Covid-19 is very much a contingency operation.

What have you found that has worked during the pandemic that you plan on maintaining in the future?

Sir, great question. I for one am getting very tired of this whole COVID-19 situation as most of us are. I don't know about others but I feel I more exhausted from a Virtual BA than on a normal in-person BA. Between SM's not being able to access things either due to websites, certificate issues, meetings, training, and soooo many friggin text messages. My wife still can't believe how many I get. It was never like that on AD. and after all that at the end of the day, I am spent. Don't get me wrong I like TEAMS but I don't think the quality is there. No-fault to the instructors because this is not an easy situation to being with. My civilian side our CSM was wanting to do a Virtual Best Warrior Competition. I honestly don't know how that is going to happen.
Like you stated Sir, it is nice to have that ability to have TEAMS on my phone and not strapped to my computer all day.

I think the issue is that some people are abusing the ability of it. We have done some great LPDs using teams. But I find it really hard to do a virtual best warrior competition.
