When my wife got orders to ship out to Saudi for Desert Storm she ask me to help her pack her duffel bags. So I put some stuff in that she never thought about. 1. a Yahtzee game and extra pads. 2. a cribbage board and cards 3. a couple of pocket books and 4. a small camera. Then I added envelopes and writing paper. She said they would be too busy for any of that stuff and I explained that when I was in Nam, when we were busy or out in the field we were always busy. But when we came back to base you could go crazy after you cleaned all your equipment and still had time to kill. When she came home 6 months later she was a pretty good cribbage player and said she traded books with the other nurses.

I hated using my canteen cup but when I went to Desert Storm I failed to bring a coffee cup and I regretted it. When I returned I went to an L.L. Bean store and got a metal camping cup, perfect for mess hall coffee.

A comfortable pillow, and full all the empty space in your bags with socks

Bed sheets, they turn that rack into your home no matter how little you might stay there.
