Besides tithe issued equipment that are going to be brought downrange regardless of if you like it or not, what item(s) would you tell one of your first timers to make sure to bring to either make their life easier or perhaps just more bearable?

A fire starter can be real handy. Not matches, you can only carry so many but a fire stick can last for years.

Baby wipes, extea patches, extra socks, 550 cord, boot laces, mp 3 player. Extra watch and batteries. A cell phone with pictures and videos on it and contacts this is what i would take if i was still in.

Depending on where you go and how long you’re there books, and playing cards are essential
I took some civilians to wear when I had downtime to make it feel more like home
If there’s WiFi and internet, laptop or
iPad is perfect for Netflix and/or movies if you have them downloaded to a memory drive

How does bringing stuff like that even work? A laptop sure but a folding lawn chair? That doesn’t exactly fit in a duffel?
