What piece of gear would you tell a first time deployer to make sure to have?

Besides tithe issued equipment that are going to be brought downrange regardless of if you like it or not, what item(s) would you tell one of your first timers to make sure to bring to either make their life easier or perhaps just more bearable?

This depends. Being on my first deployment now, I wish I was informed on the amount of downtime. (I Army for like 3 hours a day, then fuck off the rest) so like definitely bring some form of entertainment... and a lot of it. Do Not get more than is required at RFI/CIF! This will allow you more room for civilian clothes, as well as your ps4/xbox! Definitely bring plenty of tobacco if you use, it is not cheap! Bring enough socks/underwear unless you feel like going through laundry every other day! (If you have to think what enough socks/underwear is, pack more socks/underwear) bring plenty of pens, notebook paper, etc! Thats pretty much it!

A pocket Bible to reacquaint yourself with the Alimighty, because you know you’ve missed a lot of Chuch before the deployment.

A good attitude! Laptop for movies (with earbuds) during downtime, decent pillow, cards and chips, because you are sure to learn some new card games!

Compass, leathermen type multi tool, local paper map if possible,extra ammo and cleaning kit and dried garlic cloves
