MVP was founded in 2015 by Fox Sports NFL Insider Jay Glazer and former Green Beret and Seattle Seahawk Nate Boyer. They wanted to address the challenges that combat veterans and former professional athletes face in transition once the uniform comes off.
MVP empowers combat veterans and former professional athletes by connecting them after the uniform comes off; providing them with a new team to assist with transition, promote personal development, and show them they are never alone.

Sugar Ray Robinson and Joe Louis inspired me because while in the peak of their career, both joined the U.S. Army. I believe this took quality wins away from their record, but I think it boosted morale of soldiers and established a level of patriotism we need to see more of today.

Being that the Bills are my hometown team, I have a lot of respect for Jim Kelly. It certainly takes some resilience to make it all the way to the superbowl, get crushed, and then bring your team back again…..for four straight years. He even opted to live in the Buffalo area after retiring from football, he certainly could have picked someplace warmer, hahaha!

This may sound strange but Justin Gatlin inspired me the most. A lot of times we conform to our environment in order to stay on top even if that means doing something illegal sometimes. Despite his temporary ban from track and field he never gave up, accepted accountability for his actions, and did not let his dream ends regardless of the harsh criticism from the world! The hardest part in life isn’t making a mistake; it’s accepting accountability for your actions and paying your consequences!

I would have to say Jackie Robinson, he inspired many by his character and overall professionalism. Jackie overcame many obstacles throughout his lifetime and paved the way for others to follow.

Phillip Rivers. Despite being infamous for his on-field trash talking, he maintains a strict discipline with his words and refrains from cursing on and off the field. Additionally, he is a devout Catholic and by all accounts a true family man. I know people who are on his HS coaching staff. They confirm that he is highly spirited, competitive and demanding of his assistant coaches but he is also every bit of the family man that his reputations suggests. He famously wore a bolo tie in interviews while in Indy to skirt the team requirement to wear ties while press interviewing. The tongue in cheek nature of his actions remind me of some of the best NCO I worked with in very comical and positive ways. It is a treat to see a dedicated family man continue to give back to the game he loves long after the paychecks for doing so have a myriad of commas.

An athlete who deeply inspires me is Pat Tillman. His story of courage and sacrifice resonates on a profound level. After a successful NFL career, Tillman made the bold decision to leave professional football and enlist in the U.S. Army following the events of 9/11. He turned his back on fame and financial success to serve his country. Tragically, Pat lost his life in combat in Afghanistan. His unwavering commitment to his principles and his willingness to give up comfort for a greater purpose is truly admirable. Tillman's legacy reminds me of the importance of staying true to one's values and using one's talents for the betterment of others and society as a whole.
