Does anyone know what grade you have to be to attend the courses offered by the Light Fighters School at Fort Drum?

That's going to depend a lot on what course it is to you want to attend.

That's a tricky ones as you have several schools that fall under Light Fighter but are Rank Specific. Most can be attended as a Specialist E4 but E5 Sergeant is your best bet for all of them. My first time through Pre-Ranger was as an E3 private First Class. Now its called Mountain Leader Combat Certification Course (MLCCC). Mandatory for non-ranger tabbed NCO's between 95-03. Not sure now.
Hope this helps. You can always go down and ask, most instructors aren't dicks when not on the range and are more than willing to help.

It was preferred that a soldier be E4(P) or up when I was there but that was nearly 20 years ago

Any rank as long as you qualify. Talk to your team leader and let him know what you’re interested in.

If IMLARM is still a thing, that was E5+ back when I was there.

I left Drum in 96 so this is probably outdated information but I attended the cold weather leader course and was a specialist. My battle buddy was from the same unit with the same rank and we were the lowest ranked soldiers in the course

I did it as an Spec 4 in 98 from 4-31. It was rare for anyone under E5 to get it. A treat really for those who proved themselves.

Yeah I had a blast. One day classroom two days “field” if I remember correctly. Course with the field right across the street from the school it wasn’t really roughing it

It changed to a week while I went through but we got to go home at night for classroom. We did fieldcraft in ranger land. Good times. Better than the same course I had to do in Alaska.
