There is huge need for technicians with UPS experience in the civilian job market. Who uses, installs, maintains, and troubleshoots the equipment.

An uninterruptible power supply, also uninterruptible power source, UPS or battery/flywheel backup, is an electrical apparatus that provides emergency power to a load when the input power source, typically mains power, fails. A UPS differs from an auxiliary or emergency power system or standby generator in that it will provide near-instantaneous protection from input power interruptions, by supplying energy stored in batteries or a flywheel. The on-battery runtime of most uninterruptible power sources is relatively short (only a few minutes) but sufficient to start a standby power source or properly shut down the protected equipment.

As an EM, I am responsible for the 3.3KVA and 6KVA UPS installed for engineering machinery plant control systems. There are other "COTS" UPS out there as well but the maintenance/repair is extremely limited to basically replace batteries or replace unit.

As an IT and radio specialist, I never touched one until I deployed. Every office had one, but I don't remember how long they lasted. I'd suggest all communications Service Members learn about them and suggest them for at least the Senior Leaders.

Also, why isn't this tagged under computers, network security, or IT?

This might be a good subject to go into the Career Corner tab under resources to try and locate or post for others to find and apply for assistance to you or them to help both sides out.

You never know who may respond, not everyone is active on the boards, but I am sure quite a few vets of all job skills view or search the career corner tab often, I know I do.

Thanks for posting and sharing.

IT's and CTM's in the Navy are the two primaries. I was a CTM for 16 years before changing rates.
