What's a tasteful military ball gown?

To be honestly tactful, that dress should have been saved for a romantic dinner at a high class restaurant where he would be wearing a tuxedo and not a military uniform.
For the military ball, which I have never been to, something with elegance, and tact should have been first thought on his and her mind. But not everyone has the same ideas of elegance and tact. No, I am not suggesting anything prudish, just something that leaves a little to the imagination.

Air Force Ball 2013. The spouse most definitely reflects upon the military member and should dress appropriately.

Don't mind my fatness, but this is the dress I wore to my husbands SeaBee ball back in 2011, it has straps and a shawl as well. There was an officer at the ball who was asked to have his date go and change...I say keep it simple and remember you are representing your so in uniform.

No way would I allow my wife or significant other to wear a dress like that to a ball, though very sexy, every one would be starring

This is so not. Wear something that covers up. Respectful, classy, can be sexy just not slutty.

My Wife's first and only formal dinner. She must have asked me 100 times if that dress was ok. Last thing she wanted to do was embarrass me, my unit or the Air Force.

I agree that she needs to respect the event that she's attending... however, at least she's in shape. That's a good thing, right?

Very distasteful! The officer shows very little respect for his fellow servicemembers, allowing himself to be with such a tasteless date. Advertising sex is not what the balls are about. After spending 22 years in the service, I can't recall seeing anything like this at any of the balls that I have attended. As one said earlier, if a junior enlisted member would have tried this he probably wouldn't have made it in the building.
