What's a tasteful military ball gown?

It is the service members reputation that takes the biggest hit, what message are you sending to your troops.

This is definitely unacceptable. Your spouse is a direct reflection on you at these functions, so not only should she want to look nice and classy for herself, she also should understand that she needs to look nice and classy for her spouse. One person commented "have you seen what prom dresses look like now" - we are not in high school! It is easy to find a beautiful gown for a ball that is not a "prom" dress.

Additionally, it is not a cocktail party either! A military ball is a formal event requiring evening dress. That mean a long gown, not a cocktail length dress.

While the cocktail dress I posted a pic of is perfectly acceptable and appropriate for some functions, a formal military ball is not where it should be worn.

As a female in the military, I am required to wear my mess dress to these events, so it drives me nuts when I see women dressed inappropriately, rather than in a nice evening gown, which is what I want to wear! :)

Tasteful, if it comes out of the prom section, you should probably think twice.
