There are a few engineer units here. You will stay busy and train a lot. The training area here is quite large and always available to sign for some land. You will enjoy your time at Hood, but like all duty stations, it’s what you make of it.

Idk what it'll be like in an Engineering unit, but as far as the post itself goes, it's setup very nice, in a easy to learn how to get around grid pattern. I was in 1ACB, so life for the Aviation guys is much different than anyone else. Off post, there is so much to do. Once you get away from Killeen and Copperas Cove, that's where you'll fall in Love with Texas. The weather SUCKS, but the people, the night life in Austin, and all the outdoor stuff central Texas has to offer is worth the terrible weather.
Pro tip- Stay away from East Gate/Rancier ave. It's a bad neighborhood. Try and avoid Killeen all together. If you're going to be living off post, get a place in either Copperas Cove, or Harker Heights. If you don't mind commuting, a lot of my buddies commuted from Belton, Temple, Kemner, and some even in Georgetown. It's a bit of a drive, but the schools are better if you have kids, and the Military drama is almost non existent.
