Great story, GySgt Wayne A. Ekblad. I've been to the Vietnam Wall many times, and every time I go I see some of these items there. I can just imagine how much "stuff" has accumulated over the years. The ones they choose will be excellent items for the Vietnam War museum.

I have been there several times, because The Wall is my history. Each time I go there I look for my name for it should be there among my friends and family, but some unknown reason the Good Lord saw fit not to let me belong to that truly elite group of hero's. My brother and sisters are at peace there, something I have longed for for so many years. To all who are there just know there are still a lot of us thinking of you and the the day we can serve together again. God Bless!

I'm sure it's unimaginable what people have had to leave there in order to feel closure or resolve for the things that they have done or lived through.
I, of course, am too young to have been a part of that war. I have family who were though, and they would not discuss it with me even after I returned from OEF. They acknowledged that I volunteered and thanked me for continuing the fight, but none ever wanted to talk about my experiences or their own.
