Easy call for the Navy: they teach us how to surface through burning oil. Or how to use your pants as a flotation device.

Do they still use the "Buttercup" for Damage Control training? I feel so old now...

SN Greg Wright I vividly recall what to do with my helmet while donning a gas mask! Place it between your legs!

Even today, 9JAN2017, as I needed one hand to open a door, I placed one of three items between my knees to free a hand and allow me to open the door.

Let us not forget; Tom Sawyer, wearing a dress, while visiting Aunt (?) Becky was covertly discovered by Aunt Becky when she tossed an object into his lap. Tom rather than spreading his knees to use the skirt of the dress to catch the item as a girl would, put his knees together as a boy would to catch something thrown into his lap.

Um...I learned all that in my senior Red Cross swimming course. It was standard, along with full-dress entry from the high diving board. There's nothing like trying to get laced shoes off at the bottom of a diving pool.

GySgt Melissa Gravila -Gunny, just curious. In the Navy every sailor is taught basic firefighting. I would think that Marines would be too.

"Or how to use your pants as a flotation device."
Nope, you missed on that one ....lol
standard water survival tech taught and required in the army training guidance,, CWST Combat Water Survival Training...though Id bet we looked mighty silly floundering in a pool flopping our trousers over our head with no real technique ....
Other then equipment related stuff, im not coming up with anything Army wide.. I mean... did the navy teach you how to use a wag bag?

Chief I know you guys rough it some times, worked with navy folks a fair bit.. comma guys, operators, medical and a few air guys

Man I remember this one navy dude that was in my joint operation center telling me how when supplies were really limited in the beginning of the Iraq war they actually had to use powdered nondairy creamer for almost a month when the rest half-and-half ran out......

Lol

SGM Erik Marquez - That's funny, didn't happen with us on march with 1st MRADIV, lived ate and slept the same way as Marine grunts, the whole deployment. we didn't even have hot coffee until we moved from Baghdad back south Al Diwaniah. We are the ones who build the COPS and help clear MSR's (Seabees). I would throat punch someone complaining about Half & Half..

I have no doubt.

I've worked with your ilk..
I had no complaints

As far as building cops

Well we built our one....but I saw your folks build a few and work ethic and quality was never an issue.

Surprisingly enough, a lot of this training is taught to the Army boat community, especially the LSV and LCU crews.
