I listen to that "little voice" inside of me that starts telling me that things are not going well.

Stay busy working as a volunteer in the IT field from which I retired. I volunteer with the Tucson VA hospital and with my local animal shelter.

I prioritize my mental health by seeking the advice and council of family, friends, and, if need be, mental healthcare professionals. I diligently guard against any tendency in myself to abuse and neglect my responsibilities to myself and my community.

I take "mental health days" off from work. Sometimes I wake up very sad and unmotivated. I force myself to go to work that day with a self-proclaimed agreement that if I tough it out today and still feel sad and low energy by the end of the day, it's okay to take tomorrow off. If I do take off I usually sleep in a little then spend the day off wandering and visiting new places.
