I suffer from the norm of PTSD, anxiety, depression but I also suffer from Bipolar 2 and Borderline Personality Disorder.... To keep myself in check and my mind healthy is I get outside, be one with nature, listen to music, do my favorite things like beadwork or paint pouring on canvases to see what cool things I can create.... If I don't, I go down that rabbit hole and I get into my headspace.... No bueno!

I prioritize my MH, by making sure I continue to keep an open dialogue with my family and friends when I begin to feel overwhelmed as a nurse. I realized a long time ago the reason I chose nursing as a career is because I love knowing my training in the field and compassion can make a difference in a strangers life. However, I do realize this can also be a curse, if I don't in return make sure I take of my own personal needs. So, I have those "ME DAYS" and I make sure to do things that bring me internal joy, like doing the unexpected for others, beit, sending a email, text, making them gift, etc, All of these things incorporated with faith and prayer helps to keep me grounded.

I do my best to stay calm in all situations. I meet with a therapist at my local VA hospital about every 6 weeks and have been doing so for the past 3 years.

I try to be aware of how much I actually can do and to not try to do more than I can do. The older I get, the less I can do. I just takes longer to do "things." I don't know why, but it does. People I talk to agree with this. I just seems like I move slower and time goes faster.

Just keeping busy helping home owners with repair projects. When I have free time I enjoy watching old sci-fi films from the 1950s and 60s. I also read books about the Second World War.
