Help others-whether it’s volunteering, talking to someone who’s feeling down or sharing a smile and saying hello:)

I talk to others about any problems in my life. If needed I also seek professional help.

I try to keep physically and spiritually active. I remind myself that I have an obligation to myself to stay emotionally strong believing that no matter what life throws my way someone out there is suffering worse than me. Life can be very cruel to you if you let it.

I retired for a second time and soon a third time. Keeping busy is a way to stay young in body and mind. I also chant Nam Myoho Renge Kyo for my mental health and wellbeing.

I prioritize my mental health by seeing my counselor and psychiatrist regularly and taking my medication as prescribed. I also get plenty of sleep, exercise, eat right and always remember to find time for fun!

I read a lot, have a huge vegetable garden that always relaxes me and puts me in a zen space, and travel close to home when I can afford it. Reading let's you travel have adventures without costing a fortune. Garden helps you relax stay active but keeps mind sharp as you plan out and take care of it. Travel keeps you active stimulates the mind very often introduces you to new friends and new experiences.

The hardest thing for me to do is people again. I want to go back to work but I don’t want to do customer service. When I got out, I went to trade school it realized my anxieties skyrocketed from dealing with these kids. Customer service was crucial while active duty but once I started working on the floor, I don’t want to please people. I don’t even want to answer to anyone. I don’t want to explain myself. It only got worse when COVID hit. As much I want to go back to work, I have to constantly tell myself it is okay to make a medical appointment, call and ask questions about my accounts and why they’re taking more money, call and see if someone is qualified to fix my car, etc. it’s even worse as a female because I feel like I’m not supposed to know things that are meant for the “professional” nor am I to ask questions. Meditation, realizing the bigger picture and hopeful for a positive end result (along with food and maybe some coffee with meds) help me get on the phone and call people. Sometimes I gotta yell at myself like a drill sergeant and suck it up regardless of how I feel. Overall, It is so hard to be a dependapotomous AND we’ve switched to the Space Force so I’m surrounded by sissies. I don’t like it.

I stay active by planning and building projects in my shop. It really doesn't matter what a person builds. The creativity of designing, solving inevitable problems, and building something that fits into our passions and interests will keep us mentally sharp and provide valuable satisfaction. It doesn't have to be expensive either. I reuse free materials people are offering free. One warning, however. This can become addictive.
