After not being able to work anymore about 10 years ago, I found myself falling deeper and deeper into depression. The VA being what they are, threw a few pills at me and sent me on my way. I was starting to become a shut-in but I found my way out. I bought a parrot, I had always wanted one and I finally made it happen. Come to find out that there is a world full of regretful impulse parrot owners and unwanted parrots. Over the last 10 years I have amassed a sanctuary with over 40 parrots and it is the most rewarding thing I could have ever done. These birds have made me whole and brought so much joy into my life. Parrots have the ability to have a relationship unlike any other pet because they can get angry and they can show compassion. You have to constantly work on your bond with them and it is so rewarding when they reciprocate in like.

I have time to myself away from everyone and everything. Most times it's when I am alone I get my workout in by walking and meditating. I'm at peace when I can move my body and relieve stress. I force myself to think only positive thoughts.

Take a long ride on my Harley out onto the plains where the traffic isn't so much of an issue and ponder my existence for a while. Reflection seems to mellow out my mental state when things get a bit frayed. Unfortunately I'm getting long enough in the tooth that I'll have to retire the Harley before too many more years pass. I'm always quick to note that I have it far better than many I've known. Even on a bad day.

Rituals of prayers and calling upon angels to benefit me in my day. I'll engage in one or a few meditations.

I look at my dog and the way she looks at me like everything is fine because I have you to take care of me.

I keep active both mental and physical. I am 86 years old and I still think that I am 21. Don't smoke and drink very seldom. The only thin that I stop was downhill snow skiing as I figure it would take to long for my bones to heal.Think young and know your limitations.

When I feel like I'm losing myself, I put in leave. Furthermore, i usually request to go somewhere that work cant reach me easily. This allows me to ground myself again and just takr some time to think about what would make me happy and what I would like to change. No matter how important you are at work, they will always be able to find someone to replace you. It will run one way or another without you, so let it be and take care of yourself!
