What’s the Army-side process like for getting a name change?

Specifically, when it’s not due to marriage/divorce? Does it change anything if it’s not just the last name that they’re having changed(first or middle, too)?

You take your legal documents substantiating your legal name change, go to your S1 and fill out a 4187. Wait for the paperwork to clear then you get a new CAC, update DEERS and all that other stuff. Easy peasy.
