Well in the Marines I learned how to shoot and it's the best skill I can think of to have.

Shooting is part of it, but proper handling and care of a weapon is the major part. Semper Fi.

SSgt Chuck “Gunz” Gundlach USMC Ret., MBA - Absolutely correct. Never handled a weapon before the Corps, so it was a life changing experience for me. Being able to line up my sights and hit the target was an amazing feeling. You are correct though, a dirty weapon can only work so well and improper handling might as well be handing it to the enemy. Semper Fidelis.

I don't think we learn one 'best' skill. I think we learn many new ones, improve existing ones, and hone, then perfect others. My 'adapting' skill is off the charts. My Medical skills (68W) are far surpassing than any I've ever had. Situational awareness 24/7; sleeping and awake.
If I had to choose then my Medical skills are the best. Everyone needs medical care at some point. I've helped with sickness and injuries in the family since I got out. I've even helped some strangers during accidents or emergencies and just happened to be there. In my opinion and experience, everyone should learn CPR and Basic Trauma skills.
